Kultura Festival 2016
2016
art direction, festival identity, print + digital collateral design, web design
Assistant designer: Kat Estacio
Energized by cultural pride and a progressive outlook on the Filipino-Canadian experience, KULTURA Filipino Arts Festival captured the broader Toronto public from 2006 to 2017 with its innovative programming of live performances, traditional and modern cuisine, curated interactive art installations and a bustling marketplace.
The festival began as a small Kensington Market BBQ in 2006 with no budget and grew to a mainstream, multi-venue and multi-day city festival until with public funding, partnership, and over 15,000 attendees from diverse communities.
I led a team of designers and illustrators to develop a fresh look + feel each year of the festival that would extend across all print, web + social assets, marketing, packaging, signage and merch. The wordmark was conceived as a unifying element and foundational shape that would allow for colour and graphic embellishment to reflect each year’s unique look.
